2025
Summer: Online Art Exhibition: The Arts Society Stamford sponsored Year 5, St Augustines Primary School, Stamford
Local Year 5 pupils from St Augustine's Catholic Primary School were encouraged to take part in a national online art competition organised by Art Bytes. The artwork was exhibited and judged (virtually) by the general public. The winning entry from each school won a place in the Art Bytes Virtual Art Gallery. Art Bytes is a small charity aiming to celebrate children's art in a public way.
May: Art Outside: The Arts Society sponsored SEND students with a small grant for 'Community Projects'
Students from Stamford College’s Additional Needs Learning Unit visited Rutland Water Education Centre to take part in the Art Outside programme. Using natural materials, they created models, sketches and a mandala, supporting mindfulness, teamwork and creative expression. The visit concluded with time seeing the lambs and hens at the on-site farm.
2024
September: Arts Day for 16+ students at Stamford College
Students attended a lecture entitled I'm not Banksy, by internationally recognised speaker Doug Gillen, who explored the history and impact of street art and graffiti, from its origins and legality to its influence on identity, culture and even fashion design. He encouraged students to observe their surroundings and consider how street art shapes a place. In the afternoon workshop, students created their own stencils to use within their fashion, graphic design or photography projects, with many trying spray paint for the first time.
Summer: National 'A' Level art competition run by the National Arts Society
Artworks from two students were entered into this competition.
